Finding the right Event Security Companies

Whether you’re planning a small gathering or a large-scale event, finding the right event security companies should be a top priority in any crowd situation. While there are plenty of remote monitoring solutions available, having trained security present at your event can de-escalate critical situations before they even happen. That’s why it’s important to hire people you can trust so you and your guests can simply enjoy the occasion.

1. Consider your needs

Before you seek out the right security solutions for you, consider the requirements for your event. Is it a small company gathering or are you catering to a large crowd? Will the event happen indoors or outside? How safe is the area you’re in? Will you need any specialist protection like detection dogs? Are there VIPs who will need close protection? Maybe your event requires national or international travel? The company would need to be aware of international security laws and manage the appropriate transport, whether you’re travelling by land, sea or air.

Having a detailed list of your requirements will help you narrow down the right event security company and ensure they provide appropriate protection to make your event as safe as possible.

2. Pay attention to testimonials

No matter how well event security companies sell themselves to you, few things will give you better insight than their client testimonials and experience. Make sure the security company you choose has extensive experience and necessary equipment for your type of event. You can find detailed information on the success of their previous events, how well they’ve managed to de-escalate potential dangers and the technology they use. Researching their clientele, industry reputation and customer reviews will provide reassurance that you’re making the right choice for you and your guests.

3. Choose event security companies with the right qualifications

At Herongrange, we take security regulations very seriously and always ensure our staff are aware of any changes in regulation and have up-to-date qualifications to do their job. When you are researching event security companies, make sure they have the necessary qualifications and accreditations to handle your event. The team should be vetted and have undergone the necessary checks and training to work in the security industry.

The security industry changes all the time, for example, we have recently had to update our technology to meet our customers’ requirements for keeping their staff and guests safe during the ongoing pandemic. Most recently, the government has changed the training requirements for the SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence. These changes will come into effect from the 1st of October 2021, so we are preparing our team to ensure they continue to meet SIA regulations.

At Herongrange, your safety is our priority. We always stay up to date with current legislation to ensure we use the best practices according to government guidelines.

There is an on-going consultation opened by the government to protect public places from terrorist attacks. The consultation will cover 4 main themes:

1. To whom or where should the legislation apply
2. What should the requirements be
3. How should compliance work
4. How should government best support and work with partners

The consultation starts on the 26th February 2021 and is open for suggestions. People will have 18 weeks to submit a response and it’s a great opportunity to have your say and influence forthcoming legislation. We believe this legislation will become part of our health and safety responsibilities with every business who are having to consider prevention and actions to be taken in the event of a terrorist incident. So, this legislation will help protect all of our clients.

If you would like to keep up to date with legislation and counter terrorism news, please download the ACT app, which features:

• Incident reporting through an online form
• Recommendations on how to plan your response to terrorist incidents
• First aid guidance
• Counter-terrorism training and videos
• News bulletins about recent and current incidents
• Feeds from the official social media channels of relevant organisations
• Current threat and response levels

We will keep monitoring any changes to the legislation and encourage all of our team to do the same. We update our systems and operations and inform our customers as soon as anything changes. In the meantime, please get in touch if you have any security or maintenance requirements. We provide a diverse range of services across our five divisions: Bespoke Security, Construction Solutions, Fire and Security, Facilities Management and Manned Guarding. security guard speaking into radio

Everyone, it seems, is quick to get out their crystal ball when it comes to access control. The race to predict the next big thing in sophisticated security tech is a common theme across the construction industry. There’s no doubt that access control represents one of the most exciting strands of our service offering – and the team here is constantly investing time and energy to identify the right innovations to empower our customers.

I use the term ‘empower’ advisedly, because there’s no doubt that the new generation of cloud-based functionality, accessed from your smart phone and able to unlock incredible workforce management and insight, is a huge step forward. But at Herongrange, we always balance the thrill of innovation with a good dose of pragmatism. For us to recommend something, it has to be proven. We refuse to use our customers as guinea pigs, and we’re always reluctant to specify functionality that is either overly expensive or unnecessary.

Quick to protest

We’re also savvy enough to know that just because something is available, it doesn’t mean that users will necessarily want to adopt it. We know from experience that some workers are quick to protest about having to install apps on their personal phones to gain access to sites. In the not-too-distant future, even more advanced forms of access control will be coming on stream. Microchips designed to be implanted into the fleshy part of the hand between thumb and forefinger are already commercially available.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s a relatively short leap to adding access control data to the chip, so that users can be given sophisticated, multi-level access to building sites, machinery operation and much more. But the big question, of course, is how this will play with the people on the receiving end of the chip. Hands up if you fancy it!

Compelling insight

The future promises even more functionality from the fast-developing world of CCTV. Features like intelligent tracking, facial recognition and people-counting will be augmented by Artificial Intelligence that will learn from, and respond to, suspicious activity by sounding alarms, notifying security personnel, or simply initiating site-lockdown.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your access control and other security needs, and watch this space, because we’re soon to be announcing details of a new access control product that is proven in the field and in-keeping with our policy of delivering practical benefits. We’ll be ready to respond with a fast, competitive, no-hidden-extras free quotation. Contact the team on 01604 49 88 30.
